Pattern #2014_01
"ASKAI" Knit Infinity Loop Scarf
by Ruth Marshall
based on "Askai" the Snow Leopard
inhabitant of Central Park Zoo, NYC.

Askai infinity loop scarf: one loop
In 2014, I studied and knit Asakai's full pelt. On a cool evening, Askai wraps his tail around to keep warm. His tail markings were so extraordinarily luscious! I thought: Why can't we also keep the chill away with this light, quick tail knit?

This pattern is knit lengthwise, with ends grafted together with in an invisible seam.

Askai infinity loop scarf: two loops
Size: The pattern is for one loop (34" x 4 " / 86cm x 10cm.) Two loops possible by repeat of the chart. (64" x 4"  / 162cm x 10cm.) Relaxed width 2" (5cm).

Skill level: Intermediate, basic knitting & experience with multiple yarn or color knitting.

Materials needed: Size 8 (5mm) needles. Suggested yarn - Lion Brand Wool Ease, one ball each of 3 colors will make multiple scarfs.

  2. Dear Ruth, first of all, I want to say that your idea of knitting pelts is great and they are so detailed! It will be a challenge to knitters, which, I am sure they will enjoy ))) This leads me to the second point - when will you have bigger cats' patterns in your store?

  5. Quick question - are the pelt materials made from animal wool or is all the material cotton? Thanks!

  6. I would love to buy an ocelot kit! I assume the cost would be the same for a nice cotton sweater kit. Perhaps between $50-$120?
